Apple AirPod Max: Are they worth the hype?

These headphones have taken the world, Instagram and my Pinterest feed by storm. But are they really worth the $700+ that Apple is asking you for? Let's find out!

Available in five (5) different colour-ways: Space Grey, Pink, Green, Silver & Sky Blue. These wireless headphones start at just $779 with the option of free engraving. While the price point is a bit higher than one might hope for a pair of headphones, my current ones were coming to the end of their lifespan after nearly 6 years of non-stop use so I figured why not try these out so you don't have to.

My top choices for the colour options were Space Grey (keep it simple and don't have to worry about whether or not it goes with your outfits, because that is really a thought when it comes to headphones...) and the Green, well it just happens to be one of my favourite colours. In the end I went with the Space Grey since I was worried about the white band and fabric getting dirty or covered in dog fur.

Mainly I use headphones for the gym, I get in my zone and get the music going so I can't hear anyone or anything around me and that is one of the things I heard about these. One person mentioned that it was a negative that they were noise cancelling, and well for me that's a plus.

Let's get into my overall thoughts after one week of using these for walks, workouts and everyday wear.

Pros:

  • Option of Noise Cancelling or Transparent (Transparent is so useful for being out in public if you want to hear your surroundings.)

  • Adjustable sizing for one size fits all (I tested this on Kieran)

  • Easy use dock for sleep mode

  • Easy set up, don't have to do anything special, it connects right away to your Bluetooth

Cons:

  • Price Point (Let's chat openly, $700+ is not a little bit of money for an electronic)

  • These don't love to stay in place so when you're doing anything on a bench or leaning backwards it may try to fall down

Would I suggest these headphones? If you've got the disposable funds, yes. But if you don't not to worry, I've got a great alternative for you, Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones from $249.95 and up. I love my Beats headphones nearly just as much as these, but I do love the convenience of the AirPod Max and especially the transparent sound. It's an all around game changer! Being able to hear the ocean while on my morning walk with my music as the ambient sound, total tranquility for me.

What are your thoughts? Let me know!

Thanks for reading, and until next time.
