The Year of "Me": Prioritizing Myself

While I don't normally believe in creating New Years Resolutions, I felt like these were less so resolutions and more goals. Not about things like losing weight but about looking after myself.

I find that over the past year I've struggled with setting boundaries that protect my mental health and help me look after myself. I've really struggled with this and separating my work and personal life, which can happen when you work from home. It's hard to leave the office, while also hard to leave your life at the door.

Here's what I'm going to do to create a better life for myself and focus more on "Me".

1. Setting Boundaries

Whether these are in my personal life or work life, I feel that I need to create more boundaries. I'm a people pleaser and have been for much of my life, but it's okay... not only okay, but its' important to create boundaries to protect yourself and allow yourself time to unwind and dissociate.

Sometimes that means taking a day off work or if you're like me, not pushing yourself to work more because you feel you haven't accomplished enough. This can be said for all aspects of our life, our hobbies, our work, our friends and so much more.

2. Prioritizing Personal Care

This is something that I am horrible at, and honestly... I hate it. When I get home from the gym sometimes I go straight into setting up my desk and starting work because I've run out of time for a shower.

I have a bad habit of when I run out of skincare, I put it in my Sephora cart and leave it there. Honestly I have no idea why, but I tend to think that there are always things that are more important to have money aside for and I wait until far past needing to restock things.

3. Focusing on Comfort

I'll be honest, I don't get out much. I work from home and I live in Sweatshirts and Sweatpants so it's less important for me to invest in going out clothes when let's be real... I'm a bit of a hermit.

Something that I wanted to get myself to start off the push for comfort & function over fashion was a new pair of slippers that I would use daily, and the fluffy, cloud like Ugg Scuffette II were it.

4. Walking to Feed the Soul

With the fact that I don't get out much, this is a goal that is very important to me. A) because I love to take pictures, and B) because it's a great way to de-stress after a long day.

With my program with Team D Nutrition, getting out for a walk every day is imperative. And honestly I am so beyond happy about it. I can't wait to get out more!

What are you doing differently this year? Let me know down below.
