Why it's important to take time for yourself

It's mid week and I've got one more school day to go before the "weekend". Why do I say "weekend" you ask? Throughout the week I work five days a week and attend college five days a week, and sometimes it can be a lot.
Trying to find a balance between the two things, homework and my personal life can sometimes be a struggle; forgetting plans with friends, forgetting assignments that are due, getting classes mixed up and more.
All of these things can be really overwhelming that's one of the reasons why it's important to do at least one thing a day for yourself, (in my opinion at least). It can be anything, from reading a book, having a glass of wine, having a bath, having a coffee, or doing yoga. Literally anything. As long as it gives you a moment or so to just sit and enjoy yourself. When we've got so much going on in our lives we really need to stop and ground ourselves because the stress can have a ripple effect on so many different aspects of our lives. You could lose your patience, with a friend or family member and regret it and that sucks especially if you feel you've taken it out on someone else.

What are some of the things I do to ground myself during the week?
Reading: The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman (one of my daily reads that I learned about from Lisa of A Chair for my Bag, p.s. if you don't follow her you on Instagram you totally should her content is amazing and she also has a podcast.)
Having a bath: I like to take about five minutes to relax in the bath if I'm overly stressed and the best way for me is with a couple of candles, and sometimes a glass of wine and a movie to go with if I'm feeling like I wanna stay a little longer.
Meditation: Headspace is a really great app for meditation with everything varying from free content to paid content, their basics course varies from 3-10 minutes and is something I like to go through if I'm having a really stressful week or feel like I really need to ground myself.
Cooking: Alright this one may not be for everyone but cooking is one of my favourite things to do when I'm stressed out. I like to turn on some music or watch something while I cook and I feel so relaxed and cleaning up at the end is also a part of this for me because the less clutter I see the less clutter I feel.
How do you like to ground yourself and relax?
